A Guide to Teriyaki Chicken Bento

I think everyone knows what teriyaki chicken is nowadays as well as bento. But what about bento?
First of all, let’s clarify what bento is.
Bento is generally a home packed meal in one container (bento box) that can be eaten without being heated up. There are a multitude of different kinds of bento. Which are usually named after the main protein. For example, karaage (fried chicken) bento and teriyaki bento. However, bento is also named after where you buy them, like bento that you buy at train stations are called eki-ben, short for eki (train station) bento. Bento are also named after the manner in when the food is arranged. For example, kyara-ben, short for character bento is bento that are arranged usually by shaping rice to look like a character such as, Hello Kitty.

Here at Ten Sushi we have different kinds of Bento but today I want to tell you about teriyaki chicken bento.
Teriyaki chicken has its main protein as teriyaki. Teriyaki is a cooking technique from Japanese that broiled or grilled using a glaze that consists of soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. There is a lot of proteins that are used for teriyaki. Such as, yellowtail, salmon, trout, chicken, pork, and sometimes tofu.
At our restaurants our teriyaki chicken bento comes in a box with rice, teriyaki chicken, edamame and salad.
